fuck the critics

[aka Jordan Swartz's way of life]

I’m convinced that my life is just a series of awkward moments.

This weekend was interesting and random to say the least. I don’t really understand people. But no one really does.

My Friday was spent in Yardley listening to my mom’s emotional break downs, waiting on my dad because he was sick with the flu and having 6 inches cut off my hair. After all of that I came back to Philly and found myself at a party with the usuals. I started to realize that the people I was hanging out with I only see at parties, but they are all pretty cool. A few of us decided that we would probably like each other sober and planned a beach trip for the next day.

Spontaneous? Yes. Seriously refreshing though.

Saturday morning and then they (Nick, Amy, Megan and Jim) picked me up from work at 11 in the A and we drove to Ocean City. For the 2 hours that we sat in traffic we sang along with Blink-182 and ‘Now That’s What I Call Music! 6′ which consisted of songs from the 90s that I’d rather forget.

All of us were hung over (except me who had been up since 6 and was fully caffeinated). The beach was ridiculously crowded and looking out at the ocean it looked like more of a gross amusement park wave pool full of people rather than the ocean. We pretty much just laid on the beach and people watched. It was great.

Saturday night I was convinced by my friend Jim to go to a party I really didn’t feel like going to. I shouldn’t have gone, but who doesn’t love a good awkward situation. I left early to play card games with my roommate and his friends. It was much more fun.

Today I had work at dawn again. I love coffee and being a Barista. Starbucks is a ridiculous corporation, but I work with some really cool people and am surrounded by coffee. I actually really like the job.

This week includes work, interviewing, seeing The Sleeping twice and some exciting parties. Oh right, and classes.

Does anyone else think the Olympics are slightly overrated?

(Currently listening to ‘What Doesn’t Kill Us’ by What Made Milwaukee Famous)

sometimes i think we all need random people to share random moments with. more than we know, strangers can teach us a lot about ourselves.

Totally agree with Bethany’s above comment! Random people to share out-of-context moments=the best. Case in point–us becoming friends in Germany! Yes!

i love new and random people.

    YES. i’m glad we met.

You mean Starbucks is a ridiculously AWESOME corporation. I live right across the street from one…and there are 3 more within a 1/2 mile radius.

  5. Liz Says:

    because that is completely necessary.

the one i work at is literally a block away from another one. it’s ridiculous.

i do love their coffee though.

  6. Alex Says:

Yeah, but at least you get to be around coffee a lot! I bet you get good discounts too! :) But it is ridiculous how there are like, eight starbucks per city block

  7. Liz Says:

    yes!

30% off and free drinks while i’m working. it’s great.
